After his classic 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, ignited the streets, dazzled the critics, but didn’t move enough units, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter scrapped his bad marketing plan for a one-album discography and decided to drop new masterful work each and every year. He emerged center stage with a fervent desire to be #1 in the post “Pac-Biggie” era. No MC ever wanted the throne as much as Hov. If consistency kills, he was the Son of Sam, and by the time he got to his sixth album, his frustrated competitors were firing shots back.
Nas has announced that he is currently writing his debut memoir It Ain’t Too Hard to Tell, due for release in fall 2012.
HarperCollins announced earlier today that he is co-penning the book with veteran journalist Toure. No other details about the memoir have been released at this time.
In the new October issue of XXL Magazine Rick Ross addresses his “issue” with Bruce Willis’ niece female rapper Kreayshawn. It was recently at the MTV Music Awards, an altercation almost ensued for remarks Kreayshawn made about Ross in freestyle on Cosmic Kev’s “Come Up Show.”
He even threatens Kreayshawn, the fledgling Bay Area rapper who called Ross “fake” in a recent freestyle. “I cant wait to slap the !! out of whoever carriers her bags,” he sneers. “And I hope it’s her nicca. Dirty !!. You better know the !! you talking about. I’ll pay 50K to mess up your whole week.”
It has captured dead people, drunk people and teens kissing but now Google Street View has photographed a naked Florida woman standing outside her home. The unidentified woman, is seen standing on her front porch in Miami in broad daylight with a bottle of what looks like water apparently shielding her face from the camera.
In Google’s quest to provide real-life ‘street view’ angles in their handy Maps application, the tech giant’s roving camera cars occasionally catch the world’s residents up to some pretty wacky stuff.
We know that part of the marketing for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is their original names for ice cream but Schweddy Balls is definitely crazy. According to USA Today:
“Schweddy Balls” is an homage to an old “Saturday Night Live” skit featuring Alec Baldwin as bakery owner Pete Schweddy, whose unique holiday offerings included something called “Schweddy Balls.”
Sean Greenwood, a spokesman for the Vermont ice cream maker, said Thursday that the company isn’t worried about offending people with the name.
Bloomberg adds to the reports that Sprint will differentiate itself from AT&T and Verizon iPhone offers by offering a truly unlimited plan.
Sprint, the third-largest U.S. wireless carrier, plans to begin selling the device in mid-October under a deal with Apple for the next model, the iPhone 5, said the people, who wouldn’t be identified because the plans aren’t public. Becoming the country’s only operator to offer the device with unlimited data service for a flat fee may help Sprint draw customers from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which already carry the phone, they said.
Sprint, probably because it has to, offers reasonable plans without data capping or tiers. Its subsidiary Virgin Mobile would be even better with its $35-$55 unlimited plans.
