Glamour Says: 5 Tips To Pulling Off Glitter Makeup (And Still Looking Like An Adult)
Don't match. If your eye shadow's got glitter, don't wear a lip gloss with matching flecks. Just keep the colors in the same family: Gold glitter looks pretty with warm tones like brown and olive; silver is flattering with cool shades like blue and purple.
Choose carefully. The glitter sold at craft stores can scratch your eyes. You gotta get your glitter from the makeup store (M.A.C and Make Up For Ever make gorgeous glitter products.)
Apply it topless. Seriously. Glitter is messy, and will scatter everywhere—including on your party. Put on your makeup, then your clothes.
Ground it. To keep the glitter from going all over your face, use a clear or nude shadow base or cream shadow on the lids, first. Be sure to apply the glitter while the base is still wet, so it sticks.
Get it all off when you're done. There's nothing like a glitter hangover—random flecks scattered across your face the morning after a big night. The best tool to remove it: Scotch tape. Wrap a small piece around your finger and lift the specks off your skin.
