Instagram, the photo-sharing app that has taken a definitive lead on iOS, said it has surpassed 27 million registered users today at the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas. At the conference, Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger also disclosed that 67% of those users were still active, having used the app within the last 24 hours. Systrom also revealed plans for an Android app in the near future, stating, “In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy”. An official launch date has yet to be revealed, but given the nature of these sorts of new tech announcements/releases, it shouldn’t be too far off.
