Very interesting question. People cheat simply because they are selfish and inconsiderate. They want want want but do not think of their lovers feelings. Why be in a relationship if your going to cheat? I rather someone keep it real with me and leave me before ever cheating. There is NEVER an excuse for it. No one can force anyone else to do anything. So whatever a cheater does is on them and they must suffer the consequences.

If men who cheated put in just half of that effort into their realtionship and worked at keeping that realtionship fresh and new they would realize that they can get everything they need out of a partner in one woman. Woman look for that emotional support and loyalty and if your only worried about who's the next girl your gonna pick up you will never truly be happy with yourself or life. But, as @wifeofprosice said, keep it real & bail b/c excuses are bull*. However the main reason I believe people cheat is lack of communication. Good & open communication is one very key factor in a happy relationship. And seriously, as far the alcohol, you should know yourself well enough to keep from getting that twisted if ur girl/man aint around, or just well enough to avoid any situation you think could land you in fire. -Mr_Versatility

1) I am currently single
2) I have never cheated on anyone
Now that I've gotten that out of the way. Let me explain WHY most people cheat. It is a lack of good communication. If you are comfortable with your partner, and you can say "this is that, and that is this" then you won't ever have any relationship issues.
However, when you are not comfortable, and you cant say..."I'm unhappy because of XYZ" you start looking for that happyness elsewhere.
I would rather voice it, try to work on the issue. If the problem can not be resolved, break up, move on, and call it a day.
MOST folks are not comfortable doin that, so they play the cheating part. This applies to folks who have multiple partners as well.
I've had more than one open relationship. Meaning: As long as we both approve, another person can come into the mix. The key being OPEN communication. If you don't have that. You end up fucked.

I feel people cheat because no one person is 100% what we always want.(No ones perfect) She/He might be a successful person and treat u the way u want to be treated but they lack let's say creativity when it comes to the bed room, so u go else where to find that.
Or you just want the sex finish and just lay there and enjoy the release and not hear complaining or anything about bills You just want to chill. (Why not tell your partner this right?) Well I personally have experienced it you can tell someone detail by detail what it is you want in bed or in the relationship but honestly if it isn't in that person its not going to feel right and it'll feel forced and fake. So no ONE relationship is safe from infidelity Men/Women's eyes wonder and there's always this 1 person who just makes you forget about everything and your in so deep that you can't get out. (Personal exp its not always about the sex,cheating goes a lot deeper then that. We at times can connect with others in ways we never have with our spouse) It again goes back to the Question: why not just be single and date? Only the cheater knows.
