2012 Audi A6 | Preview

Images of Audi’s forthcoming 2012 A6 were released yesterday (sources claim the images were “leaked,” but come on….). Generally speaking, the 2012 A6 pretty much sums up Audi’s sedan strategy from the past few years: a well appointed cabin with enough Keeping Up With The Joneses features so that BMW stays on it’s toes, and body styling that is still Country Club, but with a bit of post-recession sneer (visible quite literally in the LED headlights). Of course, the 2012 A6 doesn’t have to be boring, and you do have options, among them a Bang and Olufson sound system with internet connectivity, and an S-Line package, which adds a sport-tuned suspension, and 19 inch alloys (along with a few other purely cosmetic tweaks). Audi is also offering a total of 5 engine types: a 2.0 TDI, a 3.0 V8, and a naturally-aspirated 2.8 FSI V6 – and the one we want: a 3.0 TFSI V6, which cranks out 220 kW (300 PS) and 325 lb-ft of torque. This last option allows the A6 to run 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, and hit an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph). But while Fast is possible, but there is no Fast and the Furious going on here. The 2012 A6 is quite clearly a car for those who want speed and luxury, in a car capable of both city driving, and rapidly exiting the city. Check out the full video and image gallery after the jump; on paper the car is a bit boring, but the beauty really comes through in the video.
