Thats Crazy... Man CarJacks Truck, Gets Caught By Footprints In The Snow

A 32-year-old Houston man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he carjacked a driver in a U-Haul truck in Georgetown, police said today.

Kevin M. King II was charged by Georgetown police with carjacking, possession of a firearm during a felony, aggravated menacing and theft of a motor vehicle, and charged with cocaine possession and resisting arrest by Ellendale police, said Georgetown Lt. Lawrence Grose.

About 2:36 p.m. officers from Georgetown assisted Ellendale officers on a traffic stop at N. Old State Road in Ellendale where a driver of a stolen U-Haul box truck fled from the officers.

Officers at the scene, along with state troopers, followed footprints in the snow that led from the stolen truck to the rear of a home on N. Old State Road, Grose said. King, who was found in the residence, was identified by Ellendale officers as the man who bailed out of the box truck and ran.

An investigation determined that King stole the box truck from another man while at the stoplight at U.S. 113 and County Seat Highway in Georgetown, Grose said. While riding with the driver, King allegedly pulled a gun on him and ordered him out of the vehicle.

A search of the N. Old State Road residence and surrounding areas failed to locate the weapon, Grose said. During the search, however, officers found suspected crack cocaine and assorted drug paraphernalia in an outbuilding that King entered before walking in the back door of the home. King was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post bail. DEonline
